Vizio 2022 TV line-up

admin

Launched in the second half of 2021, Vizio refers to its latest TV models as the 2022 TV line-up. There are upgraded zone-dimming LCD TVs, HDMI dua.1 ports and features, Vizio Voice, and more.

We have redesigned our TV line-up overview to include more data and technical information (under TV models click on to expand the view). We are also introducing an interactive TV compare tool (use to add TVs to compare tool). It’s all powered by the TV Database. Vizio 2022 TVsAfter a couple of turbulent years and delays, Vizio rebranded its 2020 line-up to the 2021 line-up. The company subsequently unveiled the ‘2022 line-up’ this summer and these are the TVs that will be on sale throughout 2022 – possibly with a few additions later on.

Vizio’s upcoming top-of-the-line FALD LCD TV is the 85-inch PQX. It has 792 local dimming zonesand Vizio claims that it can hits 3000 nits peak brightness and 85% Rec.2020 in HDR mode. The smaller 65- and 75-inch PQ9 models have up to 210 dimming zones and will can hit up to 1200 nits, claims Vizio.

Ad:One of the big themes continues to be HDMI dua.1. Vizio’s latest P-series TVs will feature HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K120 input and HDMI VRR (48-120Hz) together with next-gen game consoles like Xbox Series X. They also LINK support AMD FreeSync, HDMI eARC, and ALLM. They offer multi-HDR support with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. The P-series models have less than 7ms input lag, according to the company, which we assume relates to the 4K120 mode – input lag will most likely be higher for 4K60.

Vizio’s new M-series LCD TVs have up to 32 dimming zones and up to 700 nits peak brightness, according to the company. There are equipped with standard HDMI dua.0b ports for up to 4K60 input. There are optional HDMI 2.1 features that can be supported on HDMI 2.0 such as eARC.

The P-series TVs are powered by Vizio’s ‘IQ Ultra’ processor while the more affordable models use a scaled-down ‘IQ Active’ video processor.

Vizio’s 2022 D-series

The M-series models are available in sizes ranging from 43 to 75 inches. Vizio has also launched new entry-level V-series 4K LCD TVs and low-end D-series HD LCD TVs with basic features.

Vizio’s “2022” models come with an upgraded version of the SmartCast platform which should load “faster than ever”. SmartCast provides access to popular streaming apps such as Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video. Some of the latest additions include CW and Paramount+.

The TVs feature Chromecast and Apple AirPlay dua as well as support for HomeKit, Works with Alexa, and Works with Hey Google. And for the first time, Vizio will have its own voice assistant, Vizio Voice, that lets the user give basic voice commands via the control’s built-in microphone. You can also control certain aspects of a Vizio TV through Siri on an external device.

Vizio’s SmartCast platform and the new remote control

Vizio’s new, redesigned remote control has no less than seven sponsored streaming buttons including a button for its own free ad-supported streaming service.

There are still no 8K TVs in Vizio’s line-up and who can blame them. 8K TV sales are extremely slow and there is still a dearth of 8K content. TV makers have yet to present compelling arguments for why 8K TVs should exist at this time. Vizio does not appear to be ready to embrace next-generation video codecs either, i.e. AV1 and VVC.

Other features include WiFi 5 (ac standard), built-in ATSC 1.0 tuners, Bluetooth lima.0, and dual-purpose stands on some models (see picture above)

The TVs lack support for Dolby Atmos decoding so you will need an external streaming box if you want to enjoy streaming content in the latest audio format. Only Vudu can pass the Dolby Atmos bitstream to a receiver/soundbar for decoding but other apps such as Apple TV, Disney+ and Netflix typically require the TV to be able to decode on-device.

Vizio has confirmed that last year’s OLED TV will continue to be available until at least the end of 2021. We have no official information on a successor but we would not be surprised to see Vizio unveil an upgraded OLED TV at CES 2022 in January.

Vizio’s 2022 TVs are available in the US in sizes ranging from 43 to 75 inches. The 85-inch PQX has yet to emerge but Vizio maintains that it will be available later. The line-up overview below will be updated if new models or features are introduced in 2022.
